Day 15: Resupply In Big Bear Lake
From Arrastre Trail Camp mile 256.2 to Rt 18 mile 266.1, Big Bear
It was a comfortable cool night and for the first time I was really cold this morning. In no rush, I was still walking by 6:30 though I did not make breakfast. The ten mile walk was pretty easy, mostly downhill, but broke back into sunny scrub growth. Since I had not had breakfast I was extra motivated.
After arriving at the road it took me about three minutes to get a ride. I am staying at the Big Bear Hostel which is full of hikers. I did splurge on a private room.
Since it is Cinco de Mayo I ate at a Mexican restaurant and then came back to shower. I am wearing loaner clothes while all of mine are in the washer.
I plan to take tomorrow off and leave early Sunday. Forecast currently calls for it to get cold and drop 1 to 3 inches of snow Sunday and then be cold after that. Better than the desert heat!
You go, dude! You’re doing great! Keep it up. Remember….one foot in front of the other.
Sounds like such an adventure. I’m glad you’re living this out. Blessings
Watching your progress and inspired by you daily, Jon! You give an old girl hope for exciting adventures ahead.
You must love meeting other hikers; looks like fun!
